How To Use The Bible Reading Planner Notes

• These notes are structured around reading one chapter of the Bible every day. This is a marvellous habit to acquire.
• By following this pattern, Steps 1 - 6 will be covered in exactly fifty two weeks, providing over the course of one year a good overall view of the message of the Bible.
• Within these notes, each Step starts with an introduction giving an overview of the chapters to be covered. The plan has been carefully designed to introduce you step by step to God's word. For maximum benefit, it is recommended that you follow the sequence right through, although the Table of Bible Readings will allow you to review key chapters, or jump ahead to passages which particularly interest you, if you prefer.
• Each day's chapter should be read carefully, and in conjunction with the relevant Daily Note. Other related Bible passages will be suggested for reference. Look up these other references. This is most important: it will help to show that the message of the Bible is consistent. All parts of God's word have something to tell us.
• Numbers 14:21 means the Book of Numbers, chapter 14 and verse 21. The 66 books of the Bible are usually listed at the front of the Bible to assist in finding them.
• A Summary of Bible Teachings is available for quick reference.
• Although this Reading Plan covers one year, it is not tied to specific dates, so there is no need to wait until next January 1st - you can start at Step 1 right away.

Which Bible Version?

There are many different translations of the Bible, in many languages. English translations range from those which use the language of the 17th Century to versions which use modern idiom and expressions. Some people prefer the traditional language of the Authorised (or King James) Version, others the modern style of, say, the Revised Authorised Version or the New International Version. Whichever version you use, you will find the same basic message. Pick the version that suits you best.

These notes are based on the Authorised Version of the Bible, but you should be able to follow them whichever version you choose. If you intend to purchase a Bible, it might be worth paying a little extra to have a Bible with marginal references, although this is not essential.
